Demonstration Engines for Power Tests mounted on RWB Mobile Operation Trolley

Demonstration engines are fully equipped and ready to start. An engine can be easily connected to the engine test bed by sliding the cardan shaft halves of the engine and the engine test bed into each other when the engine is rolled towards the test bed. Only one or two screws are necessary to fix the connection between engine and test bed.

The engines are mounted on RWB mobile operation trolleys (truck construction kit). A RWB mobile operation trolley has a low base frame from which single supports lead up to the fixing points of the engine. By this design all parts of the engine can be reached as well as possible. Thanks to its solid and proven construction the mobile operation trolley is nevertheless able to match up to the stress during power tests.

Engines mounted on RWB mobile operation trolleys are easy to move because of high-quality swivel rollers with elastic tyres. Vibrations emerging from the engine - and from the engine test bed - are virtually not transmitted into the surrounding building because of the elastic tyres of the rollers and because the vibration damping support of the engine is fitted to the particular engine and corresponds to the support within the vehicle as far as possible.

The cooling system of the engine functions with an air-cooled heat-exchanger, cooling water is not necessary. This as well as the mobility and the vibration damping make it possible to run and test the engine at any place where exhaust evacuation is possible.

The engines are started, controlled, and switched off from an operator’s panel with a control lever fixed at its side. The operator’s panel contains instruments for the surveillance of the water temperature, oil pressure, oil temperature, battery current, and if the engine is equipped with its gearbox, of the engine’s revolutions.

If the engine is equipped with electronic controls, we build up these devices in such a way that they are easy to see and to reach. The cable harness can be easily removed from the control device in order to insert analyzing instruments. On request an error switchboard with more than 30 single errors may be inserted into the control equipment of the engine. (About this item detailed information is available.)

The exhaust system consists of all parts of the original exhaust of the respective vehicle. For exhaust-emission checks we build in an additional measuring outlet in front of the catalytic converter.

The engines are equipped for gravimetric determination of the specific fuel consumption. The fuel tank can be easily removed from its support and be placed on a precision balance especially prepared for this purpose.

A circuit diagram including details of the starter circuit and of the measuring instruments, and, if delivered, of the error switchboard is part of the scope of delivery of demonstration engines. The colors of the wires are indicated.

In order to ensure best possible operational safety and prevention of accidents, we only use brand-new engines, unless explicitly otherwise agreed. Rotating parts are protected provided that this does not restrict the instructional effect of the demonstration engine. A warning sign points to the danger by unprotected rotating parts.

In the event that the pressure-relief valve of the cooling system should discharge, safety devices to avoid scalding are provided, if necessary.

When building up second-hand engines, which are in general delivered by the customer, we replace those parts which might be a problem with regard to the prevention of accidents.

The mobile operation trolley on which we mount the demonstration engines is a reusable truck construction kit. Even if the demonstration engine itself cannot be used any more, the separate parts of this truck construction kit can be adjusted again for supporting any another engine.

All the engines we offer can also be built up only for idle running and be equipped later additionally for power tests.
